چکیده

Aim: Our study’s aim was to investigate the effectiveness of minimal invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) and intramedullary nailing (IMN) in extraarticular distal tibia fractures compare outcomes these two treatment methods.
Materials Methods: Between January 2008 2015, 59 patients had fracture treated with MIPO or IMN were evaluated retrospectively. Postoperative x-rays for consolidation angular deformities. For functional evaluations Olerud-Molender Ankle Scoring (OMAS) method used ankle joint range motion measured by goniometer.
 Results: At last visit, all consolidated. Average union time 16.1weeks (range, 12-24 weeks) group 15.5 weeks (range 10-24 group, respectively (p = 0.254). The mean OMAS scores 67.5 40–90) 63 30-90) groups, (p= 0.12). operation 95(range 45-115) minutes 75(range 40-100) 0.04). operative radiation exposure times 30(range 8-143) 17 5-65) seconds 0.03). Angular deformities found at 7 (23%) 5 (17%) patients, respectively. Soft tissue problems seen more group.
Conclusion: In conclusion, can be safely tibial metaphyseal fractures. While caused deformity delay, poorer results soft problems.

A comparative study of intramedullary interlocking nailing and minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis in extra articular distal tibial fractures

BACKGROUND Extraarticular distal tibial fractures are among the most challenging fractures encountered by an orthopedician for treatment because of its subcutaneous location, poor blood supply and decreased muscular cover anteriorly, complications such as delayed union, nonunion, wound infection, and wound dehiscence are often seen as a great challenge to the surgeon. Minimally invasive plate o...

Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis for distal tibial fractures.

PURPOSE To review the outcomes of 53 patients who underwent minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) for distal tibial fractures. METHODS Medical records of 31 men and 22 women aged 22 to 78 (mean, 51) years who underwent MIPO using a locking compression plate for distal tibial fractures of the left (n=28) and right (n=25) legs with or without intra-articular extension were reviewed. ...

Effectiveness of Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis (MIPO) on Comminuted Tibial or Femoral Fractures

Background: Comminuted fractures happen frequently due to traumas. Fixation without opening the fracture site, known as minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO), has recently become prevalent. This study has beendesigned to assess the outcomes of this treatment for tibial and femoral comminuted fractures. Methods: A total of 60 patients with comminuted femoral or tibial fractures were opera...

The Role of Biplanar Distal Locking in Intramedullary Nailing of Tibial Shaft Fractures

Background: To compare the union times of the uncomplicated tibial shaft fractures, which were distally locked by twocoronal and one sagittal screws and by only two coronal screws. Methods: 45 patients with tibial shaft treated with intramedullary nailing included in this study. 23 of 45 fractureswere treated with uniplanar two distal interlocking (Group 1) and 22 fractures were treated with bip...

Comparative study of intramedullary interlocking nailing and minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) in extra articular distal tibial fracture

Introduction: Tibia is one of the most commonly fractured long bone of the body. Distal tibia fractures are primarily located within a square based on the width of the distal tibia. Treatment of distal tibia fracture is challenging because of its unique anatomical characteristics of subcutaneous location with precarious blood supply and proximity to the ankle joint. Minimally invasive plate ost...
